General Manager – Inner West Hotel

Sydney Inner West | Full-Time $95,000 + Super + Performance Bonus

We’re looking for an experienced General Manager to lead an established hotel in Sydney’s Inner West.

There is already a strong foundation in place and some great work has been done across the venue. We’re looking for someone who can build on that momentum — bringing strong leadership, setting clear standards and working collaboratively with the team to take the venue forward.

This is a hands-on leadership role with a real opportunity to make an impact. We want someone who can develop the people around them while bringing the energy, ideas and commercial focus to grow the business and further establish the venue as a go-to destination within the local community.

The Role

As General Manager, you’ll have overall responsibility for the people, culture, day-to-day operation and commercial performance of the venue.

A big part of your role will be setting the tone. You’ll establish explicit expectations and standards, lead by example and work alongside your management team to ensure those standards are consistently delivered.

Developing the team beneath you will be key. We want someone who enjoys coaching managers, building their confidence and capability and creating an environment where people are accountable, supported and given the opportunity to grow.

You’ll also be looking beyond the day-to-day operation. We want someone who understands their local market, gets involved in the community and is constantly thinking about how we can drive visitation, increase functions and events,



grow different areas of trade and give people more reasons to choose our venue.

You’ll be responsible for

- Leading, coaching and developing the venue management team
- Building capability within the team and developing future leaders
- Driving a positive, accountable and high-performing workplace culture
- Setting clear operational and service standards and ensuring they are consistently delivered
- Taking ownership of venue performance and identifying opportunities for growth
- Driving functions and events trade and maximising the use of the venue’s spaces
- Building relationships within the local community and strengthening the venue’s local presence
- Working collaboratively on activations, events and initiatives that drive visitation and repeat trade
- Taking ownership of revenue, labour, COGS and overall venue profitability
- Delivering a consistently strong customer experience
- Managing rostering, recruitment, retention and succession planning
- Maintaining high standards across food, beverage and venue presentation
- Ensuring compliance across RSA, WHS and relevant licensing requirements

About You

- You’ll be an experienced hospitality leader who gets the best out of both people and venues.
- You understand that strong leadership isn’t simply about telling people what to do.



You set expectations and hold people accountable, but you also coach, listen, collaborate and bring people with you.
- You’ll also have a commercial mindset. You’re someone who looks beyond the day-to-day operation, understands what drives a successful pub and gets excited about finding new ways to grow trade and engage with the local community.

Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Previous experience as a General Manager, Venue Manager or strong Assistant General Manager within a pub, hotel or similar hospitality environment
- Demonstrated experience developing managers and building strong teams
- A track record of driving venue performance and identifying commercial opportunities
- Experience with functions, events or growing additional revenue streams
- A collaborative, visible and hands-on leadership style
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- A good understanding of labour management and operational performance
- Strong food and beverage experience
- Excellent communication and people-management skills
- Current NSW RSA competency
