Bring your turf management skills to 13 hectares of premium sports turf.

Nestled within the expansive grounds of St Joseph’s Nudgee College, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Qualified Groundsperson to join our Property & Services team.

Working alongside the Grounds Manager, Head Groundsperson and Sports field team, you will play an important role in the preparation, presentation and ongoing maintenance of 13 hectares of premium sports fields.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about turf management who takes pride in producing high quality playing surfaces and wants to work with state of the art machinery, equipment and irrigation systems within a professional team environment.

Key responsibilities

You will contribute to the day to day maintenance, preparation and renovation of the College’s sports fields, using professional turf management practices to maintain consistently high quality playing surfaces.

Your responsibilities will include

- Preparing and maintaining premium sports fields to a very high standard
- Undertaking turf maintenance and renovations, including mowing, seeding, aerating, scarifying and spraying
- Operating specialised turf management machinery and equipment
- Maintaining and monitoring irrigation and drainage systems
- Applying fertilisers, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides safely and effectively




- Monitoring turf health and assisting with the implementation of turf management programs
- Conducting regular safety and field condition inspections
- Preparing sports fields for school sporting fixtures, competitions and external bookings
- Working collaboratively with the sports field team to ensure fields are presented to a consistently high standard
- Assisting with the ongoing improvement and presentation of the College’s sports fields and surrounds

About you

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a solid eye for detail and is passionate about sports turf and producing quality playing surfaces.

You will have

- Experience in sports turf management and field preparation
- A Certificate III or higher in Turf Management
- A current manual driver’s licence
- An ACDC Chemical Accreditation, or willingness to obtain one
- A current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards
- A strong work ethic and a positive approach to working as part of a team
- A genuine passion for turf management and maintaining high quality sporting surfaces
