About the Team The Tamworth Hospital Maintenance Team is a diverse and experienced team comprising Plumbers, Fitters, Electricians, Carpenters and Handymen. The team works together to ensure the hospital facilities, buildings, grounds, plant and equipment are maintained to a safe and high standard.

About the Role

We are seeking a practical and reliable Handyman / Maintenance Assistant to join our Maintenance Team at Tamworth Hospital.

In this role, you will be responsible for the upkeep and presentation of the gardens and grounds surrounding the new Mental Health Unit, while also assisting our tradespeople and handymen with a range of general maintenance tasks across the hospital.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

- Maintaining gardens and grounds to a safe and presentable standard.
- Assisting with general handyman and maintenance tasks.
- Supporting qualified tradespeople as required.
- Transporting furniture, equipment and other items within the hospital and to other sites.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine maintenance activities as required.
- Assisting with the maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment.
- Supporting the Engineering and Maintenance Department to ensure the site operates effectively and safely.
- Working in accordance with Work Health and Safety requirements and NSW Health policies and procedures.

About You

You don't need formal trade qualifications to be successful in this role. We are looking for someone with general handyman skills and some gardening experience, along with a practical, hands-on approach to their work.

You will be someone who:

- Is reliable, responsible and takes pride in their work.
- Has practical handyman and basic maintenance skills.
- Has experience or an interest in gardening and grounds maintenance.
- Can work efficiently and effectively with minimal disruption to staff,



patients and visitors.
- Works well as part of a team and is willing to assist across a range of maintenance activities.
- Understands the importance of working safely in a hospital environment.
- Is willing to learn new skills and undertake additional training where required.
