Position: Head Chef & Chef

Location: Kraken Sourdough, Huskisson (Jervis Bay)

We have an opening for an enthusiastic and committed Chef to join our passionate team at Kraken Sourdough. Known for our exceptional quality, we specialize in wild fermented patisserie and breads, using the best in local and single-origin products. For nearly a decade, we have dedicated ourselves to mastering the art of naturally fermented foods and connecting the local community with the food they eat and how it is produced.

Role Overview:

The Head Chef is a pivotal member of our team responsible for delivering our cafe's à la carte menu. This role demands creativity, precision, and an enthusiasm for innovative foods and flavors. A commitment to sustainability and a solid understanding of using local and seasonal ingredients from our garden and suppliers is essential.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- Proven experience and the capacity to operate effectively in a small team.
- Strong food skills with an understanding of cooking techniques and flavors.
- Ability to effectively work under pressure and handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- A genuine passion for food and flavour, including a love of fermentation and cooking from scratch. An interest in and enthusiasm for plant-based foods would be an advantage.
- A professional diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or a related field is preferred.
- Solid operational management skills,



with proven experience in cost control, inventory management, waste management, and quality control.
- Knowledge of best practices for safety and sanitation, and Food Safety Certification (or the ability to obtain FSS).
- Ability to work in early mornings; weekend and holiday work is essential.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
