Hospitality Trainer / Venue Coach The Station Grocer | Northern Rivers NSW
We are looking for an experienced Hospitality Trainer / Venue Coach to work across our 10 stores, helping our teams deliver great coffee, great customer service and consistent standards.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role for someone who enjoys working with people but is equally focused on getting results.
You'll be out in our stores training, coaching and checking standards — not sitting behind a desk.
We're looking for someone who can walk into a store, quickly identify what needs attention, work with the team to improve it and then move on to the next task.
We're looking for a doer. Someone who is friendly and confident with people, but also efficient, organised and able to get through a substantial workload
Barista Training & Coffee Quality A big part of the role will be developing our baristas and maintaining coffee standards across our 10 stores.
You'll be responsible for
- Training new and existing staff to make outstanding takeaway coffee
- Improving coffee quality, consistency and speed of service
- Coaching staff on barista technique and workflow
- Training staff in the use of our La Marzocco coffee machines, and Uber Milk frothers
- Training staff in the correct preparation and use of white and nut milks
- Ensuring coffee machines and equipment are maintained and cleaned correctly
- Regularly visiting stores to check coffee quality and standards
- Providing practical feedback and coaching where improvement is needed
Customer Service
You'll also help our teams understand what great customer service looks like and, importantly, put it into practice.
You'll train and coach staff to be:
- Attentive and responsive to customers
- Friendly, pleasant and approachable
- Confident when dealing with customers
- Fast and efficient while still providing great service
- Focused on creating a positive customer experience
Safety, Onboarding & Recruitment
You'll play an important role in onboarding new team members and making sure they are properly trained from the start.
This includes
- Conducting service station safety inductions
- Supporting new employees through our Operandio induction and training programs
- Ensuring required training is completed
- Following up with staff and managers where training is outstanding
- Helping new employees understand our workplace, safety and service expectations
- Participating in the interview and selection process for new employees with our Store Managers
- Assessing candidates for their suitability for the role, including their customer service skills, communication, attitude and ability to meet our workplace standards
- Providing feedback and recommendations to management following interviews

- A high level of organisation and time management
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
We're looking for someone who is...
Practical. Efficient. Organised. Confident.
You'll need to be comfortable talking to people and building relationships.
With 10 stores to support, you'll need to get in, get the job done, coach the team and move on.
You should also be confident making honest and objective assessments of people — both when training existing staff and when determining whether a new applicant is likely to be a good fit for the role.
You should be someone who sees something that needs fixing and takes ownership of getting it done.
A driver's licence and reliable transport are required, as the role will involve travelling between our Northern Rivers stores.
The role
We're open to the right structure for this position. The role is initially expected to be casual or part-time, with the hours to be agreed based on the needs of the business and the experience of the successful applicant.
