As the current Independent Chair approaches retirement from the PEER Board, PEER is seeking an experienced, values-aligned governance leader to join the Board. This is a significant opportunity to guide effective Board decision-making, strengthen governance maturity and support PEER’s long-term success.

The Chair will lead constructive and inclusive Board discussions, maintain focus on strategy, risk, performance and culture, and foster a productive relationship between the Board and Chief Executive Officer. They will support clear, well-documented decisions, effective Board renewal and appropriate oversight of financial stewardship, compliance, safety, quality and organisational performance,



while preserving the distinction between governance and management.

The successful candidate will bring demonstrated Chair, Board committee or senior governance leadership experience, sound commercial judgement and a strong understanding of fiduciary duties.

Experience in regulated education, employment, government, defense, infrastructure, community or not-for-profit environments will be highly regarded, as will AICD qualifications and South Australian networks. Candidates must meet all constitutional eligibility and fit and proper person requirements, be independent of PEER’s employer and employee director categories, free from material conflicts, not employed by PEER, and able to act in PEER’s best interests rather than represent any particular stakeholder group. Integrity, curiosity, courage and commitment to respectful, connected and inclusive leadership are essential.

The Board meets six times annually, with additional committee and consultation commitments.
