Job Description
Yatala | Competitive Rate + Regular Overtime | 12pm Finish Fridays
n
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter who wants to be more than just another pair of hands.
n
GKG Engineering is a Yatala-based engineering business specialising in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of materials-handling equipment, conveyors and steelwork.
n
We're a close-knit team and we're now looking for an experienced fitter to become a key person within the business. We need someone who can take ownership of jobs, help lead the workshop team and get things moving without needing to be constantly directed.
n
The role
n
This is a hands-on senior position combining mechanical fitting with responsibility for helping organise and lead the team.
n
You'll work across a variety of machinery builds, repairs, maintenance, installations and project work rather than doing the same production maintenance every day.
n
Day to day, you'll be involved in:
n
n
- Mechanical fitting, assembly and machinery builds
n
- Maintenance, fault finding and repairs
n
- Conveyors and materials-handling equipment
n
- Workshop machining and fabrication as required
n
- Reading drawings and working through jobs independently
n
- Helping coordinate jobs and priorities in the workshop
n
- Guiding less experienced team members
n
- Identifying what needs to be done and getting on with it
n
- Site installations, servicing and commissioning when required
n
n
Most work is based at our Yatala workshop, with some local and interstate site work.
n
Interstate travel varies depending on projects - at times it may be around once a month, while at other times there may only be a handful of trips throughout the year. All work-related travel expenses are covered.
n
We're looking for someone who..
n
First and foremost,
we need an experienced tradesperson who knows their way around machinery and can think for themselves.
n
You'll ideally be someone who:
n
n
- Is a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner or Fitter Machinist
n
- Has strong mechanical fitting and fault-finding experience
n
- Is confident working independently
n
- Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do next
n
- Can plan a job and see it through
n
- Is comfortable helping lead and coordinate other tradespeople
n
- Has high standards and takes pride in their work
n
- Is practical, proactive and good at solving problems
n
- Enjoys working as part of a small, capable team
n
n
Experience with conveyors, fixed plant, machinery manufacture, installations or similar equipment would be highly regarded.
n
We're less interested in finding someone who ticks every box on paper and more interested in finding an experienced fitter with the right attitude and capability.
n
What we offer
n
n
- Competitive rate
n
- Regular overtime available
n
- 12pm finish every Friday
n
- Permanent full time position
n
- Day-shift workshop role
n
- Varied project work - not the same job every day
n
- All work-related interstate travel expenses covered
n
n
Most importantly, you'll be joining a genuinely good crew.
n
We're a relatively small team where people know each other, have a laugh and work together. This isn't a workplace where you're just given a job number and left out of everything else.
n
Our team gets involved in the projects we're building, solving problems and working out how to get the best result.
n
For the right person, this role also gives you the opportunity to become a genuine 2IC within the workshop and have a real say in how jobs get done.
n
Interested?
n
If you're an experienced fitter who likes taking ownership, solving problems and being trusted to get on with the job, we'd like to hear from you.
n
You don't need a perfectly polished CV.
