Job title: Junior CAD Modeller (Casual, Part-Time)

Location: Potts Point, Sydney (30 seconds from Kings Cross station)

Hours: 10 hours per week, worked as two 5-hour shifts

Pay: $35.00 per hour + 12% superannuation

We are a small design studio in Potts Point looking for a creative CAD modeller to join the team. This is strictly an in-person role at our Potts Point studio, remote applicants will not be considered. We focus heavily on object design and stand out through our in-house production capabilities. We build and iterate on prototypes directly in the studio using a wide range of tools, materials and techniques.

Our daily projects are highly varied. Clients come to us to recreate discontinued parts, fix irreplaceable broken items, and manufacture prototypes for new inventions. This work spans massing models, material studies and fully functional parts. We also regularly produce high-fidelity architectural models, bespoke VIP gifts for international brands and government agencies, and custom branding objects.

About the prospect

This is an entry-level position designed as a first step into commercial product design and fabrication. It suits someone currently studying design, engineering or a related field, who wants real client work, hands-on production experience and a broad portfolio while keeping their week free for study or other commitments. You will see projects go from brief to physical object, often within days.

The role

You will produce CAD models under the direction of the studio lead, who sets the design approach and signs off work before production. Day to day that means modelling components and assemblies from briefs,



sketches and reference parts, revising models from feedback, and preparing files for 3D printing and other in-house fabrication. Client work requires empathy: you must be able to adapt to different ideas of good design and fulfil the client's vision without imposing personal preferences.

Technical skills The primary requirement is solid capability in parametric CAD. We are not fussed which platform you prefer (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, OnShape or similar). Mesh modelling ability would set you apart for this role; if you can create organic forms and modify mesh scans, please make that clear in your application.

Logistics and scheduling

This is a casual position of 10 hours per week, split into two 5-hour shifts. All shifts are worked on site at the studio; this role cannot be performed remotely. Shift times are agreed in advance and we are happy to work around study, other work or family commitments. If you do not have a laptop you prefer to work on, a 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro with an external monitor is available in the studio for your use.
