Accountant — Growing Transport & Haulage Business, Immediate Start

SA Bulk Materials and Haulage | Burton, Northern Adelaide

Full-time role. New company, new yard, brand-new fleet. Build the finance function from the ground up.

SA Bulk Materials and Haulage is a growing local company, backed by WA Sand Supply and Haulage, an established Perth operator running a contemporary fleet of more than 100 trucks. Major quarry and construction clients have invited us into South Australia, and we're expanding fast from our new yard at Burton, with a brand-new fleet of semi tippers and truck and dog combinations arriving in stages over the coming months.

We're looking for a hands-on Accountant to take ownership of the day-to-day finances of the SA business. You'll work closely with the State Manager and our Perth head office, and you'll have the opportunity to set up systems and processes properly from day one rather than inheriting someone else's mess.

What you'll be doing

- End-to-end accounts payable and receivable, including client invoicing from delivery dockets and rate cards
- Weekly payroll for a growing team of drivers and staff, including award interpretation, penalties, allowances and superannuation
- Bank reconciliations, month-end close and management reporting to the State Manager and Directors
- BAS, IAS, PAYG, payroll tax and fuel tax credit lodgements
- Cash flow forecasting and tracking of fleet finance, fuel,



maintenance and yard costs
- Setting up and maintaining the accounting, payroll and docketing systems for the SA entity
- Supporting the external accountants with year-end and tax compliance
- Helping set up supplier and carrier registrations with clients such as quarry and construction companies

What you'll need

- Degree in accounting, commerce or a related field
- At least three years' experience in a similar role, ideally in transport, logistics, civil, mining or another operational business
- Strong payroll experience, including awards and superannuation compliance
- Confidence with Xero or MYOB and Microsoft Excel
- Highly organised, self-motivated and comfortable working without close supervision
- Full Australian working rights
