Balgownie Estate are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Junior Sous Chef to join our team. The Junior Sous Chef will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in managing our modern kitchen and ensuring the quality of food preparation and presentation. The ideal candidate should have a passion for cooking, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen and ensuring the quality of food preparation and presentation
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines
- Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and sanitation practices
- Ensure that all food items are stored, handled, and prepared safely and hygienically
- Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Assist in menu planning and development
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen workplace
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef

Qualifications:

- Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery – Or Similar
- Minimum of 2 years of Chef De Partie experience in a professional kitchen




- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and sanitation practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Have a reliable car to drive to and from Yarra Glen (Eastern Suburbs)
