The Opportunity

We have an exciting prospect available for the position of Learning Area Coordinator [Humanities] for the 2027 school year. We are seeking a vibrant and dynamic individual with proven leadership skills and expertise in Humanities. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high educational standards and overseeing the coordination of rigorous teaching programmes across the College.

This leadership role involves providing exceptional support to staff through professional development, mentoring, and promoting innovative teaching methods. The Head of Humanities will also foster outstanding classroom environments and assist with curriculum organisation and documentation.

The Role

- Build the capacity and nurture the development of staff within the learning area of Humanities




- Lead the planning and delivery of the Australian Curriculum (ACARA) within Humanities, ensuring a seamless transition into SACE pathways
- Support and promote innovative and creative pedagogy
- Ensure that students have a safe environment in which to learn and a broad, relevant, and challenging curriculum
- Inspire faculty staff through promotion of authentic learning opportunities for students that are contemporary, contextual and engaging
- Prepare and maintain budgets
- Be responsible for the preparation and monitoring of teaching and assessment plans
- Be responsible for an organised and efficient storage of teaching and learning documentation
- Ability to collaborate with other Pedare staff
- Ability to relate well to students, recognising both the pastoral and educative aspects of the student-teacher relationship
- Maintain an interest in the welfare of students and promote the wellbeing of students
- Some out of hours may be required due to role requirements
