Temporary Position With WA Government For A Legal Administration Assistant
Your new company
Our State Government client is seeking an organised and detail-focused Legal Assistant to provide administrative support within a government legal team. Working alongside legal professionals, you will assist with document preparation, correspondence, electronic file management and general administrative activities.
The position may involve low to moderate exposure to sensitive, confronting or potentially distressing legal material. Candidates should be comfortable working professionally with confidential information and have appropriate personal coping strategies. This role will be an initial 3-month contract with the possibility of extension.
Your new role
- Providing high-level administrative support to legal practitioners and senior stakeholders.
- Preparing, formatting and proofreading a range of legal documents, reports, briefs, correspondence and submissions.
- Assisting with the preparation and administration of court-related documentation and legal records.
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence and ensuring records are accurately maintained.
- Maintaining electronic and physical files, ensuring documents are correctly saved, categorised and easily accessible.
- Supporting document management processes and contributing to accurate record keeping practices.
- Assisting with invoice processing, receipting of payments and general financial administration.
- Coordinating diaries, meetings and other administrative requirements as required.
- Liaising professionally with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
- Monitoring competing deadlines and priorities to ensure work is delivered accurately and within required timeframes.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in a legal assistant, executive support, administrative or business support role with WA State Government
- Strong written communication skills with experience producing accurate and professional documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail, including document formatting, proofreading and records management.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Solid organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- High-level proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams.
