Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Workshop Foreman to take responsibility for the efficient day-to-day operation of our workshop and the coordination of / hand on approach to maintenance, servicing and repair of our fleet of machinery, trucks, vehicles, tools and equipment.

This is a key role for someone who is highly organised, mechanically minded and proactive, with the ability to identify improvements, solve problems and ensure our equipment is maintained to a high standard and ready for operation when required.

Key Responsibilities

n

Plan and coordinate all repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance for company machinery, trucks, vehicles, tools and equipment.

n

Monitor maintenance schedules and ensure servicing and repairs are completed on time to minimise equipment downtime.

n

Diagnose mechanical and equipment issues and provide technical support and practical solutions to workshop staff and operational teams.

n

Undertake and coordinate the ongoing servicing, maintenance and repair of power tools and small equipment.

n

Maintain accurate service, repair and maintenance records for plant, vehicles and equipment.

n

Coordinate external repairers, suppliers and service providers where required.

n

Assist with the management of spare parts, workshop supplies and consumables.

n

Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend practical solutions to improve reliability and reduce downtime.

Maintain and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all workshop activities are undertaken in accordance with WHS requirements, company procedures and safe work practices.

Ensure the workshop is maintained in a clean, organised and efficient condition at all times

n

Ensure machinery, tools and equipment are maintained in a secure and serviceable condition.

n

Lead by example and encourage a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Review existing workshop practices and develop and implement procedures to optimise workshop operations, efficiency and productivity.

About You

n

The successful applicant will be a practical, experienced and motivated individual who takes pride in maintaining a well-run workshop.

n

You will ideally have:

n

Strong knowledge of tools, plant and equipment used in the construction and demolition industry, how they work and the application on site.

n

Previous experience as a Workshop Foreman, Workshop Supervisor, Leading Hand, Mechanic or similar position.

n

Strong mechanical knowledge of trucks, heavy machinery, plant and equipment would be an advantage.

n

Experience coordinating preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs.

n

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

n

The ability to establish systems and procedures that improve workshop efficiency.

n

Good organisational and time-management skills.

n

A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

n

The ability to communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, management, suppliers and external service providers.

n

A hands-on approach and willingness to assist with repairs and maintenance when required.

n

Strong communication skills both verbally and written

n

Ability to use MS Office and inventory software

n

Relevant mechanical or trade qualifications will be highly regarded.
