About the role The Manager, Policy and Strategy leads the development, implementation and review of strategic policies and initiatives that support the agency’s priorities and Government commitments. You will research and analyse complex policy issues, provide high-level advice and develop evidence-based options to address emerging issues, manage risks and support informed decision-making. You will also lead policy programs and projects, monitor their progress and outcomes, and ensure initiatives align with relevant legislation, government policies and governance requirements.

A key focus of the role will be managing and monitoring the delivery of the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035 and supporting work that contributes to its goals. You will work closely with stakeholders across the agency and government to coordinate initiatives, identify opportunities and issues, and inform policy development and implementation. You will also prepare clear and well considered briefs, reports, correspondence and other written advice for Agency and Government requests.

Destination NSW is also the major investor in Business Events Sydney (BESydney) for the purpose of securing more international and domestic conventions, incentive travel reward programs, corporate events and exhibitions.

About You





You have demonstrated experience in policy development and formulation, with solid research and analytical skills and the ability to provide clear, evidence-based advice on complex issues. You can quickly understand new information, identify key issues and develop practical recommendations, often within tight timeframes and changing priorities. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high-quality briefing notes, correspondence and advice for senior leaders and the Minister’s Office.

You have strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience managing complex projects across government, with a good understanding of NSW Government processes and policy requirements. You are confident working with senior leaders and managing consultations and negotiations with people who have different views and priorities. People management experience is preferred, as the role has two direct reports.
