Linden New Art is seeking a Marketing and Development Manager to position it as one of the country's leading Contemporary Art Spaces.
Linden New Art’s Strategic Plan (2026–2029) sets out an ambitious program to help cement the gallery as one of the country’s leading contemporary art spaces — and the Marketing and Development Manager will play a key role in getting it there.
This role sits at the intersection of audience growth and philanthropic income. The successful candidate will manage Linden’s communications calendar and digital channels — email, social media, website and paid advertising — while also building and developing existing and untapped sources of individual, philanthropic and corporate giving, identifying and applying for grants, and managing the Linden Patron Program.
Linden currently secures over 60% of its operating budget through individual donations, government and philanthropic sources, and this role will help grow and diversify that income further. Working closely with the Director, the successful candidate will continue to assess, shape and implement Linden’s fundraising plan and audience-growth priorities, ensuring marketing and fundraising activity are aligned and mutually reinforcing.
We’re looking for a highly motivated, energetic and goals-driven individual with a growth mindset, who thrives in a small, collaborative team environment. The role calls for a flexible approach to work practices — including off-site meetings, after-hours work and occasional weekend event attendance — and the ability to move comfortably across a range of formal and informal social settings, from donor events to industry networks.
This is a full-time role, with an initial three year contract. Salary is $100K plus legislated superannuation.
Responsibilities
Strategic planning & industry engagement — Contribute to developing, implementing and monitoring Linden's marketing, communications and fundraising plans, budgets and KPIs; work with the Director to align fundraising and audience-growth priorities.
Donor relationships & revenue growth — Lead donor and patron communications and stewardship, including tailored stewardship plans and sponsor/donor acknowledgement; identify, secure and grow new funding streams and support grant applications, proposals and major-gift asks.
Fundraising campaigns & events — Lead or partner with the Director on year-end appeals and recurring-giving campaigns, and organise fundraising events to drive donor engagement.
Marketing, content & digital campaigns — Manage Linden's communications calendar; plan, run and optimise paid digital campaigns to support exhibitions, programs and fundraising, managing budget for cost-effective outcomes; oversee email segmentation, automation and analytics reporting for KPI, exhibition and Board reporting.
Brand & media management — Work with Linden's Designer to oversee the website, donation page, advertising, promotional collateral and signage for brand consistency; liaise with publicist and maintain the media database to maximise exposure, and archive coverage.
Reporting & compliance — Prepare marketing and fundraising reports for Board presentation and contribute to the annual report; manage donor and audience data in line with the Australian Privacy Principles and FIA Code of Conduct, including consent and privacy handling.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, fundraising or a related field, with relevant and demonstrated experience in the arts or not-for-profit sector.
- Demonstrated experience managing website content and conversion, ideally including donation or e-commerce pages.
- Experience with email marketing and CRM or donor database platforms, including audience segmentation, automation and performance reporting.
- Proven experience in fundraising or development,
including donor stewardship, appeals or campaign delivery, and grant or proposal writing, with a sound understanding of the Australian arts and cultural funding landscape (e.g. Creative Australia, Creative Victoria, philanthropic trusts and foundations).
- Working knowledge of ethical fundraising practice and donor data handling in line with the Australian Privacy Principles and the Fundraising Institute Australia (FIA) Code of Conduct.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and content across audience-facing and donor-facing communications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent campaigns and priorities, with strong attention to detail, budget management and follow-through.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including donors, patrons, media and suppliers.
- A flexible approach to work practices, including capacity for off-site meetings, after-hours and occasional weekend event attendance.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small, cooperative team.
