In this maternity leave cover role, you’ll be the steady hand that keeps our financial operations running smoothly. You’ll ensure payroll is processed flawlessly, accounts are reconciled on time, and compliance obligations are met without a hitch. Your proactive approach and problem-solving mindset will help you spot issues before they arise, streamline processes, and keep everything running like clockwork — all while being supported and guided by our experienced CFO.

What You’ll Do

- Manage end-to-end payroll processing using Employment Hero, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Australian legislation.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, single touch payroll, pay day superannuation, and other statutory obligations.
- Work closely with the Finance Assistant to ensure suppliers and carers are paid correctly and on time.
- Maintain accurate financial records by preparation of reconciliations
- Complete month-end close including journals in QuickBooks.
- Own the process that keeps track of each child/young person’s individual P&L;
- Identify process improvements and proactively resolve payroll or accounting discrepancies before they escalate.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support decision-making.
- Assist with annual interim and final audit preparation.




- Collaborate with HR and department managers to resolve payroll queries promptly and professionally.

What You’ll Bring

- Solid all round accounting experience with 3+ years post qualifications experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in payroll processing and exposure to Employment Hero Payroll platform desirable
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and familiarity with awards
- Hands-on experience with out of the box accounting software (QuickBooks preferred)
- System savvy with advanced Excel skills and the ability to work across systems
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A collaborative style and a genuine desire to support colleagues.
- Resilient and mature with a positive can-do attitude
- Experience working in a not-for-profit setting
