An exciting Opportunity has arisen for a Leading Hand Mechanical to join Service Stream’s growing Urban Utilities MECS (Mechanical, Electrical and Control Systems Maintenance) team in Brisbane. A great opportunity, you will be contributing to the maintenance and operation of essential water and wastewater infrastructure.

About the role The Leading Hand will supervise and support a small team of mechanical fitters and trades in carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on water and wastewater infrastructure. This role ensures the safe, effective, and reliable operation of treatment and distribution systems while delivering minor works projects as required to maintain critical community services.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

- Leading high-risk & technical works among a small team (mechanical fitters & trades)
- Supporting team members in their understanding of procedures & legislation
- Carrying out a range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks
- Responding to and rectifying equipment failure
- Installation, augmentation, commissioning & de-commissioning of assets
- Providing technical support to engineers & production personnel
- Scoping equipment required - providing quotes & estimates
- Promoting safety and continuous HSE improvement within the team
- Contributing to the overall management of the team budget
- Participating in after-hours support of maintenance activities, as required

To be successful for the role you will bring:

- Experience on wastewater treatment plants and all equipment located within the plant (Desirable)
- Related experience in the Water industry (or similar)




- National Licence to perform High Risk work (Desirable)
- Trade Certificate in a relevant mechanical discipline
- Ability to integrate with, lead and cooperate as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Robust communication skills when dealing with external personnel including subbies & clients
- Willingness to up-skill and undertake additional training for ongoing development (as required)
- Current Drivers Licence.
