About the Role

Are you a friendly, reliable communicator with exceptional attention to detail? Eyecare Concepts | The Myopia Clinic Melbourne is seeking an enthusiastic Optical Assistant / Receptionist to join our dynamic team for a November / December 2026 start.

This role is a 12-month maternity leave cover contract, with a strong opportunity to extend or transition into an ongoing position for the right candidate.

We are a unique, specialised optometry practice at the forefront of preventative eye treatments and myopia management. In this multi-faceted role, you won't just be sitting behind a desk—you will work closely with our optometrists, assist patients, handle optical dispensing, and actively contribute to creative team projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Front-of-House & Reception: Welcoming patients, managing appointments, handling phone/email enquiries, and delivering top-tier customer service.
- Clinical Support: Assisting optometrists with pre-testing, patient preparation, and specialised clinical testing.
- Optical Dispensing: Assisting patients with frame selection, lens options, and fitting recommendations.
- Creative & Team Projects: Contributing to marketing initiatives, social media management, and content creation (using Canva, Photoshop, or DaVinci Resolve).

What We’re Looking For

- Mindset: Self-motivated, eager to learn, and possess a strong growth mindset for personal and professional development.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong computer literacy (practice management software, MS Excel, or content design tools).
- Experience (Desirable): Prior experience in medical reception, healthcare, or eye care is an advantage, though full training will be provided. Leadership capabilities are highly regarded.
- Personal Experience: Personal experience wearing contact lenses or Ortho-K lenses is a huge bonus!
