The Medical Receptionist is responsible for providing friendly, professional and efficient reception and administrative support to patients, doctors, nurses and the practice team.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet and assist patients in a professional and friendly manner.
- Answer and manage incoming telephone calls and enquiries.
- Book, cancel and reschedule patient appointments.
- Manage online bookings, recalls and reminders.
- Check patients in and out and update patient details.
- Process payments, Medicare claims and receipts.
- Manage referrals, correspondence, forms and medical documents.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
- Assist doctors and nurses with administrative requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area.
- Follow all practice policies, privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- Escalate urgent patient concerns to the appropriate clinical staff.
- Work cooperatively with the entire practice team.
- Complete other reasonable duties as directed by management.

Experience & Qualification Requirements

- Previous experience in medical reception, healthcare administration or a similar customer service role is preferred.
- Experience working in a general practice or medical clinic is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent communication, organisational and customer service skills.
- A qualified, reliable and patient-focused approach.
- Commitment to patient privacy, confidentiality and workplace procedures.

Reports to: Practice Manager

Pay: From $28.00 per hour
