Role Description The Mentor role at JH Mentoring is a hybrid position based in South Australia, Australia, with a mix of on-site client visits and community access, depending on client needs and scheduling. Day-to-day tasks include providing one-on-one mentoring, supporting clients in building life skills, accompanying them to community activities, and helping them develop routines that promote independence and confidence. Mentors will tailor support to each client’s goals, assist with daily living tasks as appropriate, document progress and observations, and collaborate with the JH Mentoring team to refine support plans.

The role also involves maintaining clear, respectful communication with clients,



families, and other stakeholders, and contributing to a safe, supportive workplace in both respite and mentoring settings.

Qualifications

- Experience in disability support, community services, or mentoring roles, with a strong focus on person-centered care.
- Skills in building rapport, active listening, and supportive communication with people of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
- Ability to coach and teach practical life skills, such as daily living routines, social skills, and community participation.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, including scheduling, record-keeping, and follow-through on support plans.
- Resilience, emotional maturity, and the ability to respond calmly and constructively in challenging or complex situations.
- Basic digital literacy for documenting client progress, communicating with the team, and managing schedules from home.
- Relevant qualifications or training in disability support, community services, education, or related fields (or progress toward such qualifications).
- Current or willingness to obtain clearances and certifications required for disability support work in South Australia (e.g., NDIS-related checks, First Aid/CPR).
