What is essential, however, is that you are currently working — or have recently worked — as a Merchandise Planner within a multi-store retail environment.

Your responsibilities will include
- Developing seasonal merchandise plans and budgets
- Forecasting sales, gross profit and inventory requirements
- Managing stock investment and Open-to-Buy
- Reviewing weekly trading performance and responding quickly to trends
- Reforecasting sales and stock requirements
- Analysing sell-through, stock turn, margin and other key retail KPIs
- Identifying risks and opportunities across the store network
- Recommending markdown, promotional and stock management strategies
- Working closely with Buyers to develop commercially successful ranges
- Providing meaningful analysis and recommendations to senior management
- Supporting the broader Planning team as required
What We Are Looking For
Your category background is flexible. Your merchandise planning experience is not. To be considered, you must have demonstrated experience as a Merchandise Planner within a multi-store retail business.
You may currently be planning:
- Apparel
- Accessories
- Footwear
- Beauty
- Childrenswear
- General merchandise
- Homewares
- Gifts or lifestyle products
- Other specialty retail categories
If you have built your planning career in another retail category and have always wanted the prospect to move into homewares, we would particularly like to hear from you.
You will also bring
- Strong commercial and analytical capability
- Excellent forecasting and inventory management skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with merchandise planning systems
- A sound understanding of retail financial metrics
- The ability to interpret trading results and turn data into commercial action
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- The confidence to work closely with Buying and senior management
- The ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, high-volume retail environment
