You'll own safety, fleet compliance and HR across the business. Not a slice of it, not one arm of a national system - the whole thing, with the authority to build it the way you think it should work.

Working on other people's sites means our safety paperwork has to be right before our crew walks through the gate. Every builder wants something slightly different, every site has its own hazards, and the SWMS you write is the one a site supervisor will actually read. If you've spent time in a bigger organisation writing procedures that got filtered through three layers before anyone saw them, this is the opposite - you'll write it in the morning and watch a crew use it that week.

It's varied and you'll switch gears often. That's the appeal for the right person, and we'd rather be upfront that it's the job.

Key responsibilities

Site-specific SWMS for high-risk construction work

Meeting each builder's WHS requirements and getting documentation approved before mobilisation

Site inductions, toolbox talks and pre-start briefings

Incident and near-miss reporting, investigation and corrective actions

WHS management system - keeping it live, useful and audit-ready

Asbestos and hazardous waste awareness, and knowing when to stop work and escape

Waste tracking, disposal dockets and EPA compliance

Workers' compensation claims and return-to-work plans

Servicing, maintenance and repair planning across 6 trucks to minimise downtime

Registrations, roadworthies, inspections and records

Pre-start check compliance and defect follow-up

Chain of Responsibility, load restraint and driver hours

Recruitment, onboarding and inductions

White cards, licences and ticket currency (HR/HC, EWP, forklift,



first aid, asbestos awareness)

Employee records, contracts and policies

Supporting managers through performance and disciplinary conversations

Award interpretation and feeding accurate information to payroll

About you

Experience in safety, compliance or HR coordination in construction, site services, waste, civil or a similar contractor environment

Practical knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation, particularly the construction provisions and high-risk construction work requirements

The ability to write a site-specific SWMS that a builder will accept and a crew will actually use

Familiarity with working as a subcontractor under a principal contractor's WHS management plan

Cert IV in Work Health & Safety, or working towards it

White card

The judgement to work out what matters most on a given day without being told

Positive with people - you can talk to a labourer, a site supervisor and a regulator in the same hour

Solid computer skills and experience with Xero

About us Proficient Siteworks does site cleaning and builders waste removal across South East Queensland. We're on residential, commercial and high-rise sites for builders, running a fleet of 6 trucks and a crew of site cleaners, labourers and drivers out of our Forest Lake depot. Small enough that everyone knows everyone, big enough that the compliance side needs proper attention.

Monday to Friday, 6 am start based at our Forest Lake depot, with site visits
