As our NDIS allied health services continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team.
About the Role
As an Occupational Therapist with Xtra Assist Health, you will provide evidence-based, participant-centred occupational therapy services to NDIS participants in their homes, community settings and other appropriate environments.
You will work closely with participants, families, carers, Support Coordinators and other allied health professionals to develop practical strategies that promote independence and help participants achieve their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy and functional assessments.
- Assess participants’ daily living skills, independence, safety and functional capacity.
- Develop individualised therapy plans based on participant goals and clinical needs.
- Complete functional capacity assessments where clinically appropriate.
- Provide recommendations to improve independence in activities of daily living.
- Assess and recommend assistive technology and equipment within your scope of practice.
- Conduct home and environmental assessments.
- Recommend minor home modifications where appropriate and within professional competency.
- Develop strategies to support sensory, cognitive, behavioural and functional needs where relevant to occupational therapy practice.
- Provide education and guidance to participants, families,
carers and support workers.
- Prepare professional clinical documentation, progress reports and NDIS-related reports.
- Collaborate with Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Nurses, Support Coordinators and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with professional, organisational and NDIS requirements.
- Deliver all services within professional scope of practice, ethical standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
About You
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is professional, organised, clinically capable and genuinely committed to helping participants improve their independence and quality of life.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist.
- Current professional indemnity and public liability insurance where applicable.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one.
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one.
- Current Working with Children Check where required.
- Current Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Strong assessment, communication, documentation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage a community-based caseload independently.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Solid commitment to person-centred and evidence-based practice.
Desirable
- Previous experience working with NDIS participants.
- Experience completing Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs).
- Experience with assistive technology assessments and recommendations.
- Experience conducting home assessments and recommending home modifications.
- Experience working in disability, community health, rehabilitation or aged care.
- Experience preparing NDIS reports and recommendations.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary allied health team.
NDIS experience is highly regarded but is not essential for the right clinician.
