The Opportunity EDGE Consulting Engineers is an Australian-owned Structural and Civil Engineering consultancy experiencing strong national growth across Queensland, ACT, and Australia-wide, with select international exposure.

With continued expansion in Canberra — and with future succession planning in mind — we are seeking an experienced Residential Structural Manager to lead our Canberra team.

This is a genuine leadership role overseeing people, clients, workflow, and delivery across a busy residential portfolio. As Residential Structural Manager, you will:

Lead and grow the Canberra residential structural function

Own workflow across the residential team, ensuring clarity and efficiency

Strengthen client relationships and maintain consistent communication

Drive delivery standards and residential QA outcomes

Influence strategy through direct access to Directors





Support recruitment and succession as the residential team continues to grow

You’ll operate within a nationally connected business supported by strong QA systems, operational frameworks, and cross-office collaboration.

The Role Integrating into the existing Residential and Commercial team you will lead the day-to-day operation and strategic direction of the Canberra residential structural team.

Your focus will span:

Leadership & Culture

Develop and mentor Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Graduates

Drive accountability, engagement, and high performance

Lead performance and remuneration reviews

Support recruitment and succession planning for long-term stability

Technical Oversight

Maintain oversight of residential structural projects (single dwellings, extensions, townhouses, small multi-res)

Ensure QA standards and technical excellence are upheld

Provide senior review and guidance on complex or high-risk residential work

Commercial & Operational Performance

Manage financial targets and team profitability

Forecast workload, resourcing, and staffing requirements

Contribute to fee proposals and commercial strategy

Report performance metrics to Directors





Client & Workflow Management

Maintain and strengthen key residential client relationships

Oversee workflow through the team to ensure timely delivery

Resolve client issues with clarity and confidence

Represent EDGE in residential industry forums and stakeholder meetings

You will remain technically credible — while leading strategically.

About You

Degree qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering

8+ years’ experience in residential structural consulting

Proven leadership as a Structural Manager, Team Lead, Senior Engineer, or similar

Demonstrated experience managing residential engineering teams

Strong knowledge of Australian residential building structures

Commercial awareness and financial acumen

Confident client-facing capability

Chartered (or near Chartered) status with Engineers Australia

Most importantly, you are motivated to build something enduring — not simply manage the status quo.
