Our client is a well-regarded private equity investor backing quality mid-market businesses across Australia. As the portfolio grows, they're building out their value creation capability and appointing an Operating Partner to work hand-in-glove with deal teams and portfolio company leadership to drive performance across the book.
The role
This is a value creation seat for a senior operator ready to own outcomes across a private equity portfolio. You'll partner with management teams to identify, shape and deliver the initiatives that move enterprise value, from the diligence stage through to exit.
We're open on the path you've taken to get here. You might be a senior strategy consultant ready to step out of advisory and into ownership of the result, or you might have built your edge inside the business itself, running operations, sites, supply chains or P&Ls; in industrial, manufacturing, logistics or similarly hands-on sectors. If it's the latter, you'll have done it inside a private equity backed business and know first-hand what a sponsor expects.
What matters is that you know how to turn a plan into performance on the ground.
What you'll own
- Working alongside deal teams through diligence to pressure-test the value creation thesis before completion.
- Building and driving the value creation plan across portfolio companies, from 100-day plans through to longer-term operational and strategic initiatives.
- Partnering directly with CEOs and management teams to lift performance across growth, margin, operations and strategy.
- Getting into the operational detail, from cost and productivity to supply chain, pricing and process, and making change stick.
- Feeding insight back to the investment team and helping shape the approach to value creation as the platform matures.
What you'll bring
- A senior track record either in top-tier strategy consulting (Engagement Manager, Associate Partner, Principal or Partner level) or as a line operator who has run meaningful P&L;, operations or transformation inside an industrial-style business.
- If you've come through the operator route, direct experience within a private equity backed business is essential.
- Demonstrated, tangible impact on commercial and operational performance, not just the strategy behind it.
- The commercial instinct and personal presence to influence at CEO and board level.
- A genuine appetite to own outcomes and work shoulder-to-shoulder with management on the ground.
- Comfort operating with autonomy in a lean, high-performing investment team.
