Adelaide East Day Hospital | Full time Healthcare Operations Opportunity

Lead operations. Build reliable systems. Help shape an exceptional patient and staff experience.

Adelaide East Day Hospital (AEDH) is a new-build private day hospital and a new healthcare service in its establishment phase. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to help take the hospital through operational readiness, service commencement and sustainable growth.

The opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager / Director of Nursing (GM/DON), the Operations Manager will coordinate AEDH's non-clinical operational, administrative, commercial, facility and governance-support functions. This is a hands-on role for an organised, responsive leader who takes ownership, supports clinical service delivery and follows issues through to completion.

Joining at this formative stage, you will have genuine scope to shape the hospital's administrative services, systems and operating disciplines - from patient bookings, billing and theatre scheduling to quality systems, facilities, suppliers and business support.

Your focus will include:

- leading day-to-day non-clinical operations and the Administration Team, including patient bookings, admissions, practitioner liaison and theatre scheduling in partnership with the GM/DON;

- overseeing billing, health-fund claims, debtors and financial administration, together with IT, facilities, maintenance, contractors, suppliers and procurement;

- administering LogiQC (QMS), document control, NSQHS accreditation evidence, audits, complaints, risk registers and action tracking; and
- coordinating governance, credentialling and committee administration while ensuring clinical decisions and professional responsibilities remain with the GM/DON and authorised clinicians.

About you

You will be an experienced healthcare operations or administration leader with substantial experience in a hospital, medical practice or comparable healthcare environment. You combine strong people leadership, commercial and financial awareness, digital confidence and disciplined follow-through.

A current or previous nursing or clinical background, including experience as an RN, EEN or other health professional within a hospital or day-hospital environment, would be highly advantageous, providing valuable insight into clinical workflow, patient care and the operational needs of a clinical service; however, this is not essential and does not form part of the role’s clinical authority.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring:

- significant healthcare operational or administrative-management experience;

- demonstrated leadership and supervision of an Administration Team, with clear service and performance standards;

- experience in patient administration, bookings, theatre scheduling, billing, accounts and private-health insurance claims;

- experience with quality-management systems, NSQHS accreditation, governance, credentialling administration or healthcare compliance;

- strong organisational, financial, commercial and digital capability, including strong written communication and document-development skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel), and the ability to create, update and maintain clear policies, procedures, forms and other operational documentation while coordinating competing priorities and meeting deadlines;

- sound judgement,

attention to detail, proactive problem-solving and confident stakeholder communication; and
- previous experience working within a private hospital, day hospital, perioperative or procedural healthcare environment will be highly regarded.

Why AEDH?

This is a rare opportunity to influence a new organisation from its earliest stage. You will help create the administrative systems, operational disciplines and service culture that will define AEDH - building a hospital where people are proud to work and patients receive safe, efficient and personal care.

For the right person, the role offers breadth, autonomy and the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to AEDH's systems, culture, performance and future direction.

How to apply

Please submit your CV and a covering letter briefly addressing the following selection criteria:

- your healthcare operational or administrative-management experience and the breadth of functions you have personally led;

- your experience leading an Administration Team and maintaining responsive, accurate and accountable patient services;

- your experience with patient administration, theatre scheduling, billing, health funds, rejected claims and debtors;

- your experience with LogiQC or equivalent quality systems, NSQHS accreditation, governance, credentialling, risk and action tracking; and
- an example demonstrating organisation, follow-through and stakeholder management across facilities, IT, contractors, suppliers or competing hospital priorities. Please also note any nursing/clinical background or substantial clinical-environment experience.

Applications will be treated in confidence.

For a confidential discussion or to request the full position description, please contact Karen O'Dea Morris, COO, Adelaide East Day Hospital on 08 8272 7***.
