Maintenance Mechanic Full-Time | Ongoing Opportunity | Marine & Structural Maintenance

n

Foundation Labour Hire is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanicto join a busy marine structures operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled tradesperson who enjoys hands-on maintenance, fault finding, repairs and working around marine infrastructure.

n

You will play a key role in keeping machinery, equipment and facilities operating safely and efficiently, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance, breakdown response and continuous improvement.

n

Working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and broader maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a range of machinery and equipment used in pontoon, jetty and marine structure construction.

Your responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on machinery, plant and equipment.
n
- Inspect, clean, lubricate and adjust mechanical components to maintain optimal performance.
n
- Diagnose mechanical faults and identify the root cause of equipment failures.
n
- Carry out mechanical repairs, component replacement and equipment servicing.
n
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requirements to minimise downtime.
n
- Undertake basic welding, fabrication and machining as required.
n
- Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings and equipment specifications.
n
- Identify worn, damaged or defective components and recommend appropriate repairs.
n
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports and parts usage documentation.
n
- Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to communicate equipment condition, faults and repair requirements.
n
- Follow established marine industry procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and maintenance standards.
n
- Identify and report potential hazards,



equipment defects and safety issues.
n
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
n
- Support and mentor junior maintenance personnel where required.
n
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and work environment.
n
- Ensure tools and equipment are returned to their designated locations at the completion of each shift.
n

You will be a practical and mechanically minded tradesperson with strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently while contributing to a broader maintenance team.

n

Ideally, you will have:

n

n
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Mechanical Fitting or equivalent experience.
n
- Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role, preferably within marine, construction, manufacturing, heavy industry or a similar environment.
n
- Experience working with marine structures, pontoons, jetties or related equipmentwill be highly regarded.
n
- Basic welding and fabrication capabilities.
n
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
n
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings and specifications.
n
- Strong understanding of preventative and reactive maintenance practices.
n
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
n
- Strong safety awareness and understanding of workplace safety procedures.
n
- Ability to undertake physically demanding work and operate effectively in heat, rain and varied outdoor conditions.
n
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
n
- A proactive approach to identifying problems and finding practical solutions.
n
