Mount Clear Collegeis a co-educational Years 7-12 school nestled in a beautiful bush setting adjoining the Woowookarung Regional Park, just six minutes from the heart of Ballarat. Although student enrolments are approximately 950 our focus it to combine the caring, student-centred approach of a small school with the philosophy of providing high-quality educational opportunities, stimulating, and challenging every student to achieve personal excellence in their chosen pathways.

Selection Criteria
SC1 ¿ Curriculum and school priorities
Demonstrated expert knowledge of curriculum and evidence-informed approaches to student engagement, wellbeing and careers education. Demonstrated ability to lead the Years 7¿12 program, including RRRR Wellbeing , student agency, careers and pathways, and relevant literacy and numeracy development.
SC2 ¿ High-impact practice
Demonstrated ability to lead high-impact teaching and wellbeing practices that respond to student needs. Demonstrated ability to build staff capability through modelling, coaching, collaborative planning and evaluation of program impact.
SC3 ¿ Data and improvement
Demonstrated exemplary ability to use student learning, engagement, wellbeing, voice and pathways data to lead whole-school improvement. Demonstrated ability to support staff to use evidence to evaluate programs and improve student outcomes.
SC4 ¿ Leadership and relationships
Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with students, staff, families and community partners to strengthen engagement, wellbeing, student agency, aspiration and pathways.
SC5 ¿ Values and professional learning
Demonstrate ability to model Department and College values and support colleagues to do the same. Demonstrated ability to reflect on individual and whole-school practice and lead professional learning across the portfolio.
Role
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range.The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.
Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.
Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.
Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.
Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.
Responsibilities
Role Purpose
The Leading Teacher ¿ Student Engagement, Connect, RRRR, Student Leadership & Careers and Pathways provides whole-school leadership across key areas of the student experience at Mount Clear College.
The role will lead the review, development and implementation of a coherent Years 7¿12 Connect and Personal Development program , incorporating social and emotional learning, RRRR, careers and pathways education and opportunities that strengthen student engagement, belonging and aspiration.
Working collaboratively with College leaders, the Careers Team and teaching teams, the Leading Teacher will strengthen student leadership, voice and agency , develop staff capability, and ensure programs are purposeful, developmentally appropriate and responsive to student needs.
The successful applicant will be an instructional and strategic leader who uses evidence, data and student voice to evaluate impact, lead improvement and contribute to the implementation of the College¿s Annual Implementation Plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Years 7-12 Personal Development program , ensuring a coherent and developmentally appropriate approach.
- Provide whole-school leadership of Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) and strengthen its integration across relevant curriculum and programs.
- Work with the Careers Team to embed a progressive Years 7-12 approach to careers, pathways and aspirations
- Lead the development of a strong Years 7-12 approach to student leadership, voice and agency , including authentic opportunities for student contribution and leadership.
- Lead initiatives that strengthen student engagement, belonging, connection and participation in learning .
- Build staff capability through qualified learning, collaborative planning, coaching and the development of high-quality curriculum and resources.
- Use student voice, data, evidence and research to evaluate impact and continually improve programs and approaches.
- Develop opportunities for community and external partnerships that strengthen student agency, aspirations, leadership and pathways. Encourage student led projects to foster ownership responsibility and leadership skills.
- Contribute to whole-school improvement and implementation of the College's Annual Implementation Plan as a member of the College leadership team.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Qualification Requirements
To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class:
- The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching; and
- if the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate that they have satisfactorily completed a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program that has been accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority as satisfying the requirements of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership 'Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia: Standards and Procedures'; and
- a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements (this condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian ITE program completed by the person).
