About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Peer Worker to join our headspace Murray Bridge team on a 0.8 FTE fixed-term basis until 30 June 2027.

As a Peer Worker, you will draw on your own lived experience of wellbeing challenges and recovery to connect with, support and advocate for young people. Working alongside our multidisciplinary team, you will help young people feel heard, build confidence, work towards their goals and connect with the services and supports they need.

The role also provides opportunities to contribute to group programs, community engagement activities and the ongoing development of peer support within headspace Murray Bridge.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individual peer support to young people using lived experience in a purposeful and appropriate way.
- Build trusting relationships with young people and support their voice, choice and shared decision-making.
- Assist young people to identify and work towards their individual goals.
- Advocate for young people and help them navigate and access appropriate services and supports.




- Work collaboratively with the headspace multidisciplinary team to support coordinated care.
- Support and co-facilitate group activities, programs and community engagement initiatives.
- Participate in peer supervision, line supervision, training and professional development.
- Maintain appropriate qualified boundaries and comply with relevant organisational, contractual and reporting requirements.

- Lived experience of wellbeing challenges and recovery, with the ability and willingness to use this experience appropriately to support and inspire hope in others.
- A genuine ability to connect with, support and advocate for young people and their families.
- Strong communication skills and an approachable, empathetic and non-judgemental manner.
- An inclusive approach and commitment to supporting young people from diverse backgrounds.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good self-awareness, resilience and an ability to engage in reflective practice and supervision.
- A willingness to undertake relevant headspace training.
- A Certificate in Peer Work/Mental Health would be highly regarded but is not essential.
- Previous experience working with young people, families, community organisations or in a peer work capacity would also be advantageous.
