**About the role

As a Peer Worker, you will draw on your personal recovery journey to support consumers experiencing mental health distress, crisis, or suicidal thoughts and feelings. Working alongside nurses, allied health professionals and medical staff, you will provide meaningful support, foster hope, promote self-determination, and help consumers identify strengths and recovery goals. You will also assist consumers to build community connections and access ongoing supports following discharge.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

Ensure consumers, carers, families and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic, gender identity and linguistic backgrounds.

Commit to patient safety and quality in delivery of health care by maintaining and evaluating safety and quality practices and

Knowledge of, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of relevant applications, including Consumer Integrated Mental Health Application (CIMHA), RiskMan, Learning Management System (LMS), Hospital Base Client Information System (HBCIS), and Emergency Department Information System (EDIS).

Actively participate in qualified supervision, performance appraisal and development

Utilise experience, skills and knowledge in consumer education,
