Energy Markets Manager Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane Our client is a global leader in consulting for the energy sector, helping developers, utilities, regulators and governments navigate Australia's energy transition. They are looking for a Manager or Senior Manager to join their Energy Markets and Strategy team and lead high-impact market and planning engagements across the NEM and WEM.

This role suits someone who thinks in markets first. You will bring deep expertise in energy market dynamics, regulatory frameworks and strategic planning, and apply that expertise to shape major investment, network and policy decisions.

THE ROLE Working alongside Key Account Managers, Market Area Managers and Division Leads, you will provide technical leadership across complex market and planning engagements, from strategic advisory through to energy market modelling. Your focus will be on market strategy, analysis and planning outcomes, growing a high performing team while working on diverse, exciting projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead complex energy market analysis, strategic planning and power system modelling engagements across the NEM and WEM

Provide authoritative guidance on market modelling, regulatory frameworks and network planning methodologies





Shape technical and strategic direction on major projects, exercising judgement that influences both engagement outcomes and wider business objectives

Act as a senior technical voice to clients, partners and industry stakeholders on market and regulatory matters

Develop and review methodologies for proposals and scopes of work, ensuring effort estimates are robust and matched to engagement complexity

Mentor and provide technical direction to team members, building market analysis and modelling capability across the team

ABOUT YOU

7+ years' experience in energy markets, strategy, planning or modelling, ideally with an engineering, economics or related degree

Strong understanding of Australia's energy markets, regulatory frameworks and network planning

Proven experience leading projects and technical teams

Sharp analytical mindset, able to translate complex market and technical data into explicit strategic insight

Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to influence clients and stakeholders at all levels

Commercial acumen, with the ability to make and defend decisions across all aspects of project delivery
