Mozzarella Bar is looking for a passionate and skilled Woodfire Neapolitan Pizza Chef & Pasta Cook to join our busy kitchen team. In this dual-focused role, you will be responsible for crafting authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas cooked in our high-temperature woodfire oven, as well as preparing traditional Italian pasta dishes made to order.
Key Responsibilities
- Woodfire Pizza Preparation:
- Hand-stretch dough using traditional Neapolitan techniques.
- Prepare fresh toppings, house-made sauces, and high-quality cheeses.
- Operate and manage a high-temperature woodfire oven, ensuring consistent bake and signature char.
- Pasta Preparation:
- Cook fresh and dried pasta to al dente precision.
- Manage multiple dockets during peak service while maintaining high quality and presentation.
- Kitchen & Operations:
- Prep fresh ingredients daily following house recipes and quality standards.
- Maintain clean, hygienic, and organized workstations at all times.
- Strictly adhere to food safety regulations and workplace health and safety practices.
- Collaborate closely with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 2+ years of experience working with high-heat woodfire ovens and Neapolitan pizza dough, along with solid experience on the pasta section in a fast-paced Italian restaurant.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of dough hydrations, hand-stretching, oven temperature control, and sauce finishing techniques.
- Food Safety: Knowledge of local hygiene and food safety standards (Food Safety Certificate preferred).
- Soft Skills: Ability to work calm and clean under pressure during busy service hours, strong communication, and a team-first attitude.
- Availability: Willingness to work nights, weekends, and public holidays as required by restaurant peak hours.
