Our Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Principal Planner to join our Brisbane team.

This role is suited to a highly regarded planning professional with strong industry networks, sound commercial judgement and a deep understanding of the planning and development landscape. You will help clients navigate change, identify pathways forward and provide advice that reflects both technical expertise and an understanding of the broader market and policy environment.

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

- Leading complex planning and advisory projects across development, infrastructure and government sectors.
- Providing trusted advice to clients navigating planning, policy, governance and growth-related challenges.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships across the property, development, infrastructure and government sectors.
- Identifying emerging trends, policy changes and market opportunities that shape client decision-making.
- Working with clients to develop practical, commercially informed pathways to achieve their objectives.
- Preparing proposals, contributing to business development initiatives and supporting the continued growth of our Queensland business - with opportunities for career development across Veris' nationwide office network.
- Managing projects commercially, including scope, budgets, timeframes and delivery outcomes.
- Working collaboratively with specialists across planning, urban design, GIS,



surveying and advisory services.
- Mentoring and developing emerging planning professionals.
- Contributing to the continued growth and evolution of Veris Consulting & Advisory.

About You

You will bring

- 10+ years' experience in planning, advisory or related consulting roles.
- Robust technical capability across development planning, strategic planning, government advisory or a combination of these areas.
- An established and respected network across the Brisbane and Queensland planning, development and government sectors.
- A detailed understanding of the policy, regulatory and market forces shaping growth and development in Queensland.
- Experience working with developers, landowners, local government and state government agencies.
- The ability to identify opportunities, build trusted relationships and convert conversations into long-term client partnerships.
- Strong commercial, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The confidence and judgement to operate as a senior advisor on complex and often sensitive projects.
- A collaborative approach and a desire to work across a broad range of projects, disciplines and geographies.
