A global financial organisation is investing heavily in Data & AI, with a major Microsoft Fabric migration underway and the foundations being built for its next phase of AI and advanced analytics.

This newly created Senior Data Engineer / 2IC role will work closely with the Head of Data & AI, combining hands‐on engineering with the opportunity to influence platform design, engineering standards and data practices.

n

You'll play a key role in the transformation, with the autonomy to challenge existing approaches, improve how data is engineered and help shape the future data platform.

n

What you'll be doing

n

- Play a key role in the Microsoft Fabric migration
n
- Design and build scalable data solutions across the contemporary data platform
n
- Contribute to engineering standards, reusable patterns and quality practices
n
- Work across data modelling, ETL/ELT, transformation and integration
n
- Help shape how data is structured, governed and made available for analytics and AI
n
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring across the wider engineering capability
n

What you'll bring

n





We're looking for a strong Senior Data Engineer who combines deep technical capability with the confidence to influence and operate with autonomy.

n

You'll ideally bring:

n

n
- Advanced SQL and strong database development skills
n
- Strong data modelling, ETL/ELT and transformation experience
n
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric - Bonus!
n
- Understanding of modern lakehouse, warehouse and Medallion architecture
n
- Strong understanding of data quality, lineage, metadata and governance
n
- Experience with Git, code review and CI/CD
n
- Python and/or PySpark would be advantageous
n
- A track record of taking ownership and improving engineering practices
n
- Most importantly, you'll be someone who doesn't need everything mapped out for you. You can work through ambiguity, challenge assumptions, make sound technical decisions and bring stakeholders with you.
