Primary objective The Program Facilitators deliver psychoeducational programs to offenders in NT Correctional Centres and undertake administrative processes required for effective program delivery.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Facilitate, the delivery of psychoeducational programs to assist with the rehabilitation of prisoners. Co-facilitate the

delivery of psychoeducational related programs.

Reviews prisoner files to ascertain program needs to input into the development of offenders Sentence/Offender

Management Plans.
1. Interview offenders and review offender information to determine motivation for participation in psychoeducational

intervention.
1. Record and maintain accurate, legible and proficient case notes, attendance records and statistics in a timely manner.
2. Respond to relevant prisoner requests, in liaison with the Manager and other staff as required.
3. Facilitate referrals to internal programs where required.
4. Be an active member of a team and participate in ongoing development and supervision.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Sound knowledge, understanding and proven ability to deliver group programs to adults.
2. Sound organisational skills and administrative experience including a proven ability to concurrently co-ordinate a range

of tasks, determine work priorities, meet stringent deadlines and work under pressure.
1. A high level of computing skills with proficiency in a range of relevant computer applications or the ability to acquire

such knowledge.
1. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and in a culturally appropriate manner with Aboriginal people and





people from diverse backgrounds.
1. Proven ability to work as a member of a team, willingness to participate in supervision and ongoing development, and

the capability and/or personal qualities suitable to work in a custodial/correctional environment.
1. High level of self-management and motivation, including the ability to work with minimum supervision, use initiative and

display sound work ethic.
1. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a busy work environment and across a broad range of administrative

functions, including the ability to manage sensitive and highly confidential information.

Desirable

1. Completed or currently undertaking relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Community Services, Social Work, Community

Development, Psychology/Criminology).
1. Demonstrated sound understanding of, or experience working within, the criminal justice system.
