Make an Impact Through Finance, Systems and Continuous Improvement

We are seeking a highly motivated and improvement-oriented Project Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting professional with strong technical accounting skills, a systems-thinking mindset, a focus on continuous improvement, and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.

A significant focus of the role will be leveraging our key accounting system, TechnologyOne, to identify opportunities to enhance workflows, reduce manual effort, and maximise system capability through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the Role

As Project Accountant, you will support the delivery of accurate, efficient, and timely financial processes and reporting within a private health insurance environment. You will work closely with Finance and business stakeholders to streamline processes, improve system utilisation, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality financial information for Executive and Board reporting.

What Success Looks Like In this role, you will:

- Drive the simplification, standardisation, and documentation of finance processes.
- Improve the effectiveness and utilisation of TechnologyOne through enhanced workflows and reporting capability.
- Reduce manual processing through automation and system improvements.
- Deliver accurate month-end and quarter-end reporting within agreed timeframes.
- Support Executive and Board reporting through reliable, insightful financial information.
- Enhance system support, process clarity, and knowledge sharing within the Finance team.
- Proactively identify and address risks, issues, and improvement opportunities.

About You You are a finance professional who enjoys improving the way things work. You combine strong accounting knowledge with analytical thinking, systems capability, and a passion for delivering practical solutions.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

- Degree qualification in Accounting.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.




- Strong understanding of accounting principles and their practical application within a business environment.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data, reconciliations, and analysis.
- Experience working with financial systems, reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality outcomes.

Skills & Capabilities

- Strong systems capability, including an understanding of workflows, configuration, reporting, data, and controls.
- Ability to identify inefficiencies, challenge existing processes constructively, and implement practical improvements.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain finance and system concepts clearly.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to ownership and accountability.
- Ability to build effective relationships and influence positive change across teams.
- Understanding of information security, privacy, risk management, and internal control principles.
