We're looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician / Leading Hand to join us as our:

n

Construction Equipment Technical Lead – Product Support

n

This is a unique opportunity to become the technical authority for construction equipment product

n

support within Vertu.

n

You'll be hands-on, working across the SANY construction equipment range — excavators, rollers, skid

n

steers and wheel loaders — while also helping us strengthen the technical, service and commissioning

n

standards that support our growing fleet in the field.

n

This isn't a workshop management or desk-based role. You'll be on the tools and in the field, leading by example and working alongside our growing technician team.

n

What you'll be doing

n

n
- Commissioning and setting up new excavators, rollers, skid steers and wheel loaders
n
- Pre-delivery inspections and customer handovers
n
- Diagnosing complex hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and electronic control system faults
n
- Servicing, repairing and maintaining SANY construction equipment across the product range
n
- Managing undercarriage, ground-engaging tools (GET), wear components and attachments across the excavator, roller, skid steer and wheel loader range
n
- Attending breakdowns and working towards a first-time fix
n
- Providing technical advice to customers on machine setup, application, attachments and maintenance
n
- Leading and coordinating technicians and apprentices as the team grows
n
- Reviewing completed work and maintaining high workmanship standards
n




- Providing technical input into parts, GET and wear-component requirements
n
- Supporting warranty investigations and claims
n
- Working directly with SANY's technical and product teams
n
- Developing service procedures, troubleshooting guides and technical training
n
- Training customers and developing the capability of the wider Vertu team
n

n

We're looking for an experienced Construction Equipment Technician / Leading Hand who

n

understands the demands of civil construction, earthmoving, infrastructure and general construction applications.

n

You will have:

n

n
- A trade qualification in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant, Plant Mechanics, Fitting & Turning or similar
n
- Proven experience working on excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, rollers or similar construction equipment
n
- Strong practical knowledge of hydraulic excavators, compact and wheeled loaders, skid steer loaders and compaction equipment
n
- Experience with undercarriage systems, ground-engaging tools, wear components and machine attachments
n
- Strong hydraulic and electrical fault-finding capability
n
- Experience diagnosing and repairing complex construction equipment and mobile plant
n
- Experience with commissioning, machine setup and performance troubleshooting
n
- The ability to work independently across civil, commercial, residential and infrastructure construction
n
- Strong customer communication and reporting skills
n
- The ability to lead by example and maintain high technical and workmanship standards
n

We're particularly value experience with:

n

- Hydraulic excavators (tracked and wheeled)
n
- Undercarriage inspection, measurement and replacement
n
- Ground-engaging tool (GET) selection and management
n
- Attachment setup, including hammers,



augers, tilt buckets and grabs
n
- Machine guidance and GPS systems
n
- Hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, cylinders and motors
n
- Electronic control systems and CAN bus diagnostics
n
- Tier 4 / Stage V emission systems and diesel engine management
n
- Commissioning, PDI and customer operator training
n
- Leading Hand or Senior Technician experience
n

The type of person we're looking for

n

We're looking for someone who already knows construction equipment.

n

You don't need to know the SANY product range — we'll provide the manufacturer training — but you do

n

need to understand how construction equipment works, how to diagnose faults and, importantly, how to get a

n

machine back working for a customer.

n

You should be someone who is methodical, technically strong and confident making decisions in the field.

n

Someone who can get stuck into a breakdown, diagnose the problem properly, lead other technicians when

n

required and communicate directly with the customer.
