Do you love private practice, but not necessarily the way private practice is sometimes done?

Maybe you want more autonomy over the referrals you accept, the clients you work with and how you structure your week.

Perhaps you’ve worked somewhere that prioritises filling calendars and KPIs over giving clinicians the space to do good clinical work.

Or maybe you work in a “multidisciplinary” environment, but still feel like you’re practising in isolation, with very little genuine collaboration between the people involved in a client’s care.

If you’re looking for greater autonomy, meaningful clinical work and a practice where you’re valued for what you bring, we might be a good fit.

The opportunity

Reconnect Centre is growing, and with the opening of our South Yarra clinic, we’re looking for a psychologist to grow alongside us.

This is a little different from a traditional private practice role.

We’re offering a hybrid private practice/subcontractor model that allows you to maintain and grow your own independent caseload while also working with Reconnect Centre and accepting suitable Reconnect referrals.

Bring your existing clients. Continue building your own practice. Maintain autonomy over your workload.

Alongside this, you’ll have the opportunity to work with Reconnect clients whose presentations and needs align with your clinical interests and capacity.

We’re not looking for someone simply to fill a calendar. We’re looking for the right clinician to become part of what we’re building.

Who we’re looking for

We’d love to meet a psychologist who is thoughtful, curious and genuinely invested in their clinical work.

Someone who wants autonomy, but also values being part of something.

You may already have an established private caseload, or you may be in the process of building one.

We’re particularly interested in clinicians who:

- Work relationally, emotion-focused, experientially and/or somatically
- Have an interest in persistent pain, chronic illness,



trauma and the relationship between emotional and physical experiences
- Value depth, curiosity and individualised formulation rather than simply applying a protocol
- Want greater autonomy over their caseload and working week
- Are comfortable working independently
- Are motivated to continue learning and developing clinically
- Value genuine interdisciplinary collaboration
- Respect the expertise that psychologists, physiotherapists, medical practitioners and other health professionals each bring to a client’s care
- Want to contribute to a growing practice rather than simply work within one

Previous specialist experience in persistent pain is welcomed, but is not essential. Genuine interest, clinical alignment and a willingness to develop in this area matter to us.

About Reconnect Centre

Reconnect Centre is a growing psychology practice specialising in persistent pain, chronic illness, trauma and emotional wellbeing.

Our approach is relational, experiential and body-informed, with a particular interest in the relationship between emotion, the nervous system and physical symptoms.

We believe psychological care should not exist in a silo.

For us, multidisciplinary care means more than different practitioners appearing on the same referral list. We want to build genuine collaboration around the client, where clinicians communicate, understand one another’s roles and work towards shared therapeutic goals.

We want the culture within Reconnect to reflect those same principles.

That means respecting clinicians as professionals: their clinical judgement, their boundaries, their capacity and the value they bring.

Your work

Depending on your interests and availability,



your caseload may include clients presenting with:

- Persistent pain and chronic illness
- Trauma and PTSD
- Anxiety, depression, grief and emotional difficulties
- Functional and medically complex presentations
- Private referrals
- WorkSafe referrals
- Eligible NDIS participants

You will work independently within your scope of practice while maintaining appropriate clinical records, qualified standards and communication with referrers and other treating practitioners where clinically appropriate.

Essential requirements

You will need

- Minimum General registration as a psychologist with AHPRA
- Appropriate professional indemnity insurance
- Eligibility to practise independently
- Registered ABN
- Relevant checks and professional requirements
- Strong ethical and professional standards
- Capacity to provide in-person appointments from our South Yarra clinic
- An interest in working collaboratively as Reconnect Centre grows

Clinical endorsement is welcome but not required.

The arrangement

This is a subcontractor opportunity, not an employee position.

The model is designed to provide flexibility and independence. You can continue seeing your own private clients from the South Yarra consulting space while accepting suitable Reconnect Centre referrals according to your availability and areas of interest.

Days and the structure of the arrangement can be discussed based on mutual fit.
