REGIONAL OPERATIONS MANAGER – QUARRIES

Lead nine quarry operations across a large and diverse regional portfolio

Your next opportunity! This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished quarrying leader to take responsibility for a significant regional portfolio within one of Australia’s leading construction materials organisations.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead nine quarry operations across Queensland and the Northern Territory, supported by experienced Quarry Managers and specialist leaders across assets, logistics, finance, commercial, property, sales and safety.

With an approximately $95 million P&L;, annual sales of around two million tonnes and a substantial program of operational and capital investment, youwill have genuine scope to shape performance, strengthen operational consistency and deliver lasting improvement across a diverse and commercially important portfolio.

The Opportunity Your portfolio includes operations across Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Wide Bay, Toowoomba and Darwin.

The role may be based in Brisbane, Townsville or another practical Queensland location, with Mackay, Cairns and the Wide Bay-Burnett region also open for consideration. Regular travel across the portfolio will be required.

You will lead a group of Quarry Managers with varying levels of operational, commercial and leadership experience. Your role will be to establish credibility quickly, create a consistent operating cadence and ensure each site receives the right level of leadership, challenge and support.

Key priorities will include:

Securing the long-term continuity of quarry resources and raw materials

Improving fixed-plant productivity, reliability and cost-per-unit performance

Delivering significant operational and capital projects

Establishing consistent KPIs, operating metrics and performance disciplines

Strengthening accountability and capability across the Quarry Manager group





Implementing and embedding key quarry safety initiatives

Maintaining safe, compliant and environmentally responsible operations

Planned and potential investment includes a current primary crushing circuit, significant fixed-plant development, sand quarry asset replacement and a range of resource development, stripping, mobile equipment and site infrastructure projects.

Your Responsibilities You will be accountable for:

Providing operational leadership across nine quarrying operations

Leading, coaching and developing the portfolio’s Quarry Managers

Managing an approximately $95 million regional P&L;

Delivering production, safety, cost, margin and operational performance outcomes

Driving fixed-plant and mobile-equipment optimisation

Developing business cases and leading operational input into capital projects

Identifying and prioritising replacement, continuity and growth investment

Ensuring long-term resource availability and operational continuity

Building greater consistency and standardisation across the regional network

Partnering with finance, commercial, assets, logistics, property, sales and safety teams

Managing relationships with regulators, councils, communities and other stakeholders

Maintaining strong site visibility through regular regional travel

What you will bring This role requires more than broad heavy-industry leadership. You will need the technical and operational credibility to engage experienced Quarry Managers, understand what is happening beneath the headline numbers and challenge performance constructively.

You will bring:

An open Site Senior Executive (SSE) qualification, or the background and capability to obtain the required Queensland qualification quickly





Substantial operational leadership experience within quarrying, aggregates or a closely aligned environment

Previous responsibility for a large quarry or multiple quarry operations

A deep understanding of safe, productive and commercially successful quarry operations

Strong financial literacy and previous accountability for operational P&Ls;, budgets and forecasts

Experience developing capital business cases and delivering complex operational or asset projects

Knowledge of fixed-plant optimisation, crushing operations, mobile equipment and resource development

Demonstrated success leading experienced operational managers across multiple locations

Strong knowledge of quarry safety, environmental and regulatory requirements

The ability to interpret operational and financial data and turn it into decisive action

A proactive leadership style and the confidence to take ownership without waiting for direction

The flexibility to travel regularly across Queensland and the Northern Territory

Applicants from mining or mineral-processing environments may be considered where they can demonstrate highly transferable quarrying knowledge. However, direct experience within quarries, sand or aggregates will be strongly preferred.
