Nolan's Interstate Transport is an established and recognised national transport and logistics business specialising in the movement of refrigerated and perishable food products across Australia.

We are seeking an experienced and practical Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Officer to join our team based at either our Gatton Head Office or our Willawong Depot in Brisbane.

n

This is a hands on safety role working within a busy transport, warehousing and logistics environment. You will work closely with managers, supervisors and employees to ensure WHS requirements are understood, implemented and maintained across the business.

About the Role

n

The WHS Officer will support the ongoing development and implementation of Nolan's workplace health and safety systems and help ensure our operations meet legislative and company requirements.

n

The role will include:

n

n
- Conducting workplace inspections, safety observations and risk assessments.
n
- Assisting with incident and near miss investigations and identifying appropriate corrective actions.
n
- Monitoring hazards and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
n
- Reviewing and developing Safe Work Procedures, risk assessments and other WHS documentation.
n
- Supporting managers and supervisors with practical WHS advice.
n
- Assisting with training and toolbox talks.
n
- Monitoring compliance with company WHS policies and procedures.
n
- Maintaining WHS registers,



records and reporting requirements.
n
- Assisting with consultation processes, safety meetings and employee safety concerns.
n
- Assisting with regulator enquiries, audits and improvement actions.
n
- Working with operational teams to continuously improve workplace safety.
n
- Visiting other Nolan's depots when required.
n

Our operations include heavy vehicles, forklifts, loading and unloading activities, cold rooms, warehouses, workshops and transport depots, so this is a role where practical operational safety experience is highly valued.

n

About You

n

We are looking for someone who can work effectively with people at all levels of the business and who understands that good safety management needs to work in the real world.

n

Ideally, you will have:

n

n
- Previous WHS experience, preferably within transport, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or another operational environment.
n
- A sound understanding of Australian WHS legislation and risk management principles.
n
- Experience conducting incident investigations and risk assessments.
n
- Strong written skills and the ability to prepare explicit safety documentation and reports.
n
- Confidence communicating with drivers, warehouse employees, supervisors and senior management.
n




- Good organisational and computer skills.
n
- The ability to work independently and follow matters through to completion.
n
- A current driver's licence.
n
- Knowledge of Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), Chain of Responsibility and heavy vehicle operations would be highly regarded.
n

We want someone who is comfortable walking through a depot, talking with employees, identifying risks, investigating incidents and working with operational managers to find practical solutions.

You will need to be approachable and professional while also being prepared to challenge unsafe practices and hold people accountable when required.
