About Red Nose Red Nose is Australia’s leading authority on safe sleeping and safe pregnancy advice and has been a key provider of bereavement support following pregnancy, infant and child loss for almost 50 years.

We provide specialised bereavement support free of charge to any person affected by the sudden death of a baby or child during pregnancy, birth, infancy or childhood. This includes professional counselling, support groups, peer support, our 24/7 Support Line and other community-based support activities.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Bereavement Counsellor to join our team in Perth, working 3 days per week on a 2-year fixed-term basis.

The role is predominantly office-based, with Wednesday a required working day. The other two days can be negotiated.

Reporting to the National Counselling Manager, you will provide timely and effective grief and bereavement counselling and support to individuals and families who have experienced the sudden and unexpected death of a baby or child.

You will work with clients face-to-face, by telephone and digitally, and contribute to support groups and other activities for bereaved families. You will also work closely with our Intake and broader Bereavement Services teams to provide client-focused, evidence-based services.





An significant part of this WA-based role is helping people know that support is available. You will build and maintain relationships with hospitals, health professionals, referral partners and bereavement support services, and contribute to service promotion, education and training across WA.

About You

You are an experienced and compassionate practitioner with a strong understanding of grief and bereavement, and the complex journey families may experience following the death of a baby or child.

You will bring

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, counselling, psychology or a related field, with eligibility for clinical registration with PACFA, AASW, APS, ACA or AHPRA, or an equivalent overseas body
- At least 3 years’ experience in a healthcare or community support environment, including the delivery of high-quality counselling services
- Experience in trauma counselling and supporting bereaved children, adults, couples and families, including clients with complex needs
- Strong knowledge of contemporary grief and bereavement models and evidence-based practice
- Highly developed communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of clients, communities and professional stakeholders
