Dogs in Town is looking for an experienced and confident Retail Sales Assistant to join our team.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys sales, understands how to create a great customer experience and has a strong interest in high quality pet products, nutrition and wellbeing.

Our retail range is carefully selected, with a focus on quality, natural and holistic products that support the health, happiness and wellbeing of dogs. We want someone who can learn our range in depth, understand what each product offers and confidently recommend the right products based on each dog’s individual needs.

This is not simply a role behind the counter. We are looking for someone proactive, commercially minded and excited to take ownership of the retail experience in our stores.

About the role

You will be responsible for creating a welcoming and knowledgeable retail experience for our clients while actively contributing to the performance and presentation of our retail spaces.

Your responsibilities will include

- Providing friendly, confident and knowledgeable customer service
- Actively identifying sales opportunities and recommending suitable products based on each dog’s needs
- Developing strong knowledge of our product range, including nutrition, treats, supplements, grooming products, wellbeing products, accessories and seasonal ranges
- Maintaining beautiful, organised and commercially effective product displays
- Merchandising new products and ensuring products are presented consistently with the Dogs in Town brand
- Monitoring stock levels and identifying products that need to be replenished
- Working closely with our Product Coordinator, Carol, to support stock management, product orders, new arrivals and retail initiatives
- Receiving, organising and replenishing stock
- Supporting new product launches and seasonal campaigns
- Helping maintain accurate pricing and product information
- Keeping the retail area clean, organised and fully stocked throughout the day




- Working collaboratively with our reception, daycare, grooming and management teams

Part time | Approximately 20 to 24 hours per week | $30 to $38 per hour + super, depending on experience and skills

About you

We would love to hear from you if you:

- Have previous retail and sales experience
- Are confident approaching customers and starting genuine sales conversations
- Understand that great sales come from listening, identifying a need and recommending the right solution rather than simply pushing a product
- Have strong customer service and communication skills
- Are proactive and can identify what needs to be done without constantly waiting for instructions
- Have experience with merchandising, stock management or product ordering
- Are organised and comfortable working with inventory and product displays
- Enjoy learning about products and becoming knowledgeable enough to confidently explain their benefits to customers
- Are comfortable working both independently and as part of a larger team
- Have a genuine interest in dogs, pet wellbeing and premium pet products

Previous experience in pet retail, pet nutrition, natural or holistic products, premium retail, health and wellness or a similar setting will be highly regarded.
