Job Description

Our client is a residential building business based at Eagle Farm, Brisbane. Our finance function is led by our Chief Financial Officer, who currently carries the day-to-day bookkeeping alongside broader financial management of the business. As the business has grown, we want to bring in a capable bookkeeper to take ownership of the transactional work so the CFO can focus on reporting, cash flow, job profitability and strategic matters.

The Role

n

This is a hands‐on bookkeeping role working directly with and reporting to the CFO. We are looking for someone who is accurate, organised and comfortable working independently once they understand our systems and processes. The role is in-office so the bookkeeper can work closely with the CFO, the construction team and our document and job-costing systems.

The role is a minimum of 30 hours per week, with the option to work a full working week for the right person. Hours are flexible, and we would rather find the right person and build the schedule around them than be rigid on set days.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Accounts payable - Processing supplier and subcontractor invoices, matching to purchase orders and job costs, preparing payment runs and resolving supplier queries.

- General bookkeeping - Maintaining supplier and subcontractor records, chasing missing invoices
n
- and statements, assisting with month-end tasks, and general data entry and ledger housekeeping.
n
- Estimating support - Assisting the estimating department with data entry, supplier and
n
- subcontractor pricing updates,



and general administrative support as required.
n
- Support to the CFO - Assisting the CFO with ad hoc tasks such as BAS workpapers, reporting
n
- support and system tidy-ups as required.

Our Systems

n

Our finance function runs on the following platforms. Experience with these is a genuine advantage but is not essential - we will train the right person, and a bookkeeper who has worked across comparable construction and document management systems will pick them up quickly.

- Databuild - construction estimating, job costing and accounting.
n
- Onsite Companion - site and project management, linked to Databuild.
n
- EzyScan - invoice and document capture.
n
- Therefore - document management and workflow.
n

n

Skills and Experience

n

n
- A minimum of three years' hands‐on bookkeeping experience in an Australian business.
n
- Solid accounts payable and reconciliation skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
n

n

Confident with accounting software and quick to learn new systems; good Excel skills.

n

n
- Experience in residential construction, building or trades businesses is highly regarded, particularly
n
- with job costing and subcontractor payments.
n
- Self‐motivated and able to manage their workload independently, while communicating clearly with the CFO.
n
- Discreet and professional in handling confidential financial information.
n
- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting or registered BAS agent status is desirable but not required.
