About the role We are seeking an experienced

Operations Manager

to join our team in Sydney, NSW on a

full time basis . This is a pivotal role that will oversee the day-to-day operations of our mortgage and finance division, ensuring seamless processes, exceptional customer service, and regulatory compliance. Reporting to senior management, you will have responsibility for optimising operational efficiency, managing teams, and driving strategic initiatives that support the growth and success of Abacus Home Loans. This role is central to maintaining our reputation as a trusted mortgage finance provider and will involve direct interaction with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

Oversee daily operational activities within the mortgage finance division, ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently

Manage and supervise operational teams, providing leadership, coaching, and performance management to ensure high standards of service delivery

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop strategies to optimise operational metrics and reduce costs

Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements,



compliance standards, and internal policies within the mortgage and finance sector

Coordinate with loan processing, underwriting, and customer service teams to streamline workflows and eliminate bottlenecks

Implement and oversee quality assurance programmes to maintain consistent service standards across all operational areas

Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation to support efficient operations

Identify process improvement opportunities and lead implementation of operational enhancements

Liaise with external stakeholders, including lenders, brokers, and regulatory bodies, to maintain positive relationships and resolve issues

Prepare operational reports and provide regular updates to senior management on performance, challenges, and opportunities

Manage budgets and resources allocation for operational activities

Oversee Marketing promotions, events and electronic direct mails (EDM).

What we’re looking for

Minimum 3-4 years of operations management experience, ideally within the banking, financial services, or mortgage sector

Proven track record of successfully managing operations teams and delivering measurable improvements in efficiency and service quality

Strong knowledge of mortgage and finance industry processes, products, and regulatory requirements





Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Proficiency in using operational management systems and business intelligence tools

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive evidence-based decision-making

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners

Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage staff

Understanding of compliance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks relevant to mortgage lending and financial services

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with mortgage or financial services software systems

Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational challenges

Tertiary qualification in business administration, finance, or a related discipline is desirable
