Primary objective

Provide qualified advice and operational support for risk management, internal audit, governance and assurance activities across the department. Contribute to effective corporate governance, compliance, accountability and continuous improvement through the delivery of risk management initiatives, internal audit activities and assurance services.

Context statement

Quality Assurance Services is responsible for supporting the department's governance framework through internal audit, risk management,

compliance monitoring, fraud control,



quality assurance and Audit and Risk Committee support. The role works across diverse business units and school environments, engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to strengthen governance practices and improve organisational performance.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Contribute to the delivery of the department's strategic internal audit program, including conducting audits and reviews, stakeholder

engagement, and monitoring implementation of audit recommendations.
1. Prepare high-quality reports relating to audit, risk management, governance and assurance activities for senior executives and

committees.
1. Support compliance monitoring and assurance activities, including reviews of legislative, policy and internal control compliance, and

support the identification and treatment of departmental risks.
1. Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of governance frameworks, policies, procedures, risk

management practices and assurance processes.
1. Provide advice to staff on risk management, internal audit processes, governance obligations and associated frameworks.
2. Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholders, external auditors,



consultants and oversight agencies to

support the delivery of assurance outcomes.
1. Provide secretariat and administrative support to the Audit and Risk Committee.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in internal audit, risk management, governance, compliance or assurance activities, including the application

of contemporary audit and risk management methodologies.
1. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information, identify risks and develop

practical, evidence-based recommendations.
1. Proven ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports and other written documentation for a variety of audiences.
2. Sound knowledge of governance frameworks, internal controls, compliance requirements and relevant legislation, standards and

policies related to audit and risk management.
1. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build collaborative relationships.
2. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality and deliver quality outcomes within

tight timeframes.

Desirable

1. Knowledge of public sector legislation, including financial, procurement and governance frameworks.
2. Tertiary qualifications in accounting, auditing, risk management, business, public administration or a related discipline.

Further information A criminal history check is required prior to commencement. A valid Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) is required. Occasional travel may be required.
