Governance Institute of Australia

Sydney

Governance Institute of Australia is the only independent professional association with a sole focus on whole-of-organisation governance — best practice culture and ethics from the boardroom to the staff room.

We are a leading professional membership association dedicated to the support and empowerment of anyone who is responsible for governance and risk management.

Our events, education programs and extensive resources provide our 7,500+ members and subscribers with the tools and knowledge to drive strong, accountable performance in their role and enhance their career in the future.

About the role An opportunity has become available for a full-time, Sales Coordinator to join our Sales & Growth team based in our Sydney office. This is a hybrid role, working flexibly alongside the broader Sales & Growth team.

Initially focused on lead warming via calls and emails, this role is expected to evolve as Governance Institute's FY27 plans take shape. For the right candidate, this presents a unique opportunity to grow alongside the function and build a long-term career in sales and business development.

The Sales Coordinator responsibilities are outlined below:

Lead Warming and Outreach

- Contact and warm prospective customers through outbound calls, personalised emails and LinkedIn outreach.
- Qualify leads from the existing database and identify opportunities for further sales conversations.
- Follow agreed outreach cadences and messaging, providing feedback on what is and is not working.

Meeting-booking & handoff

- Book qualified meetings for the Business Development Manager (and, where appropriate, the Manager) that meet the agreed qualification bar.
- Prepare the Business Development Manager with a short pre-meeting brief: contact background, sector context, likely need, discovery already done.
- Manage the Business Development Manager's outbound calendar to protect their selling time.

CRM management & sales admin

- Maintain accurate, complete,

and timely records in the CRM: contacts, activity, opportunity stage, next steps.
- Support opportunity management: proposals, follow-ups, contract admin, handovers to delivery teams.
- Provide clean data to the Growth Analyst and Manager for forecasting and reporting.

Inbound triage (transitional / e-commerce interface)

- Triage inbound enquiries that don't self-serve through e-commerce.
- Route simple transactions to self-service; escalate complex enquiries to the right owner.
- Identify inbound enquiries with corporate/expansion potential and pass them to the Business Development Manager.

Development pathway

- Actively participate in the coaching cadence set by the Business Development Manager and Manager, Sales & Growth.
- Shadow the Business Development Manager on meetings to build closing capability over time.
- Take on progressively more sales-facing work as capability develops — this role is designed as a pathway to Business Development Manager, not a permanent support seat.

The successful candidate will have:

- 1–3 years in a customer-facing, sales support, or sales development role, or a demonstrable aptitude for sales from an adjacent role (customer service, admin, hospitality, member services).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident speaking on the phone with customers and in written outreach.
- Strong CRM literacy (or ability to learn quickly).
- Interest in a sales career pathway; willingness to be coached.
- Experience in an education, membership, association, or professional services setting an advantage,

but not mandatory.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft business desktop applications.
