Maxima's client, a well-known local Council are seeking an experienced Local Laws Officer for an assignment based out of Tewantin. You will be a part of a rostered work pattern across any 5 out of 7 days which may include regular weekend and out-of-hours work with a casual hourly pay of $53.47 + super.
n This role with see you provide customer focused enforcement of Council's Local Laws and policies and relevant State legislation with an emphasis on information, education and self-regulation.
n Key Responsibilities:

n

- Investigate and resolve complaints, including the serving of notices to seek compliance with Council's
n

n

Local Laws, State Acts and Regulations and other legislation relevant to the position

n

n
- Deliver education programs to the community relative to a regulatory environment, focusing on
n

n

community safety, awareness and responsible pet ownership

n

n
- Understand and enforce according to Council's impound procedures in relation to Local Laws, State
n

n

Acts and Regulations and other legislative requirements

n

n
- Maintain and update records relevant to the position to ensure information and knowledge is current
n

n

and accurate

n

n
- Act as an ambassador for Council during interactions with the community and provide accurate and
n

n

timely information and advice regarding relevant local law matters

n

n
- Make timely enquiries and gather evidence for the prosecution of offences against Council's Local
n

n

Laws, State Acts and Regulations and other legislation relevant to the position,



issue and serve
n infringement notices and appear for Council as a witness in court

n

n
- Undertake patrols of beaches, parks, reserves, roads and other Council controlled land for breaches
n

n

of local laws and take action to resolve those breaches in accordance with Council policy

n

Skills, knowledge and experienced required:

n

n
- Demonstrated knowledge required to undertake complex investigations, relevant to a regulatory setting
n
- Sound knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Councils local laws, policies and procedures and other relevant State legislation
n
- The physical ability to undertake local laws duties
n
- Proven ability to work as an effective, positive team member in a high performing customer focused regulatory environment
n
- Proven ability to deliver accurate and timely customer service, exercising sound judgment, decision
n

making and initiative

- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with members of the public, community groups and businesses and build effective relationships

- Sound time management, work prioritisation and organisational skills with the proven capacity to work with limited supervision

Qualifications, training and licenses required:

- Current National Police Clearance or willing to obtain
n
- Diploma in Government (Investigation) or similar qualifications
