About the business and the role

Bedrock Books is an educational supplier who pack 11,000+ book packs every Back to School season. We are looking for casual staff, including juniors, for our peak season to work from end-October through to February. A robust work ethic and high level of fitness is desired. This position is a temporary position over the Back to School season only.

Must be available to work a minimum of 3-days a week (24 hours) up to 38 hours per week. Some Saturdays may be required in December and January.

Hourly rates are calculated using the current Storage Services and Wholesale Award.

Job tasks and responsibilities

We have three areas where we require seasonal casual staff. The positions and general tasks and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Warehouse

Picking and packing orders

Receiving and stock replenishment

Maintaining a safe warehouse

Keeping to daily picking and packing schedule

Follow packing and stock management procedures

Picking warehouse staff only: Use Forklift (Walkie Reach Stacker only) to offload trucks and organise pallets on pallet racking

2. Shop

Point-of-sale operator Face-to-face customer service





Processing of payments

Picking orders and assisting retail customers

Restocking shelves

Keeping shop tidy and organised

3. Office

Customer service on the phone

Replying to emails

Processing phone orders

Managing orders on website

General office duties - filing, data entry.

Skills and experience

Experience in warehousing or retail environments is preferred but as training is provided, it is not essential. Work is very fast paced and being able to quickly learn new skills is essential. Our premises is not air-conditioned and our warehouse and retail teams are on their feet all day and as a result, we have that found people with a higher level of fitness are able to cope with the work load easier. Must be able to lift heavy boxes that may exceed 20kg.

We have a Walkie Reach Stacker Forklift in our stock/picking warehouse. Previous Forklift experience is preferred but not essential as training will be provided to staff assigned to this warehouse. The packing team does not use the forklift.
