Role Description:

The role of Senior Accountant is a developmental leadership role within the Firm, and has responsibilities across three domains:

- Clients: Work individually and collaboratively with the manager and team to deliver outstanding client service across a range of compliance, advisory and value-add services.

- Team: Assist the manager to support more junior team members to contribute their best work, foster a motivating and engaging culture, and encourage their development and learning.

- Firm: Contribute to achieving the Firm’s client value proposition, employee value proposition and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

With the clients:

Working often with larger clients, clients with complex business structures, and/or HNW clients:

- Prepare financial statements, tax returns, management accounts, budgets & cashflow forecasts for clients across various industries and structures




- Analyse and report on clients’ business performance and results
- Contribute to the provision of technical taxation advice and tax planning strategies to clients, and liaise with clients in relation to their business matters
- Provide business advisory services, financial modelling, technically complex tax and advisory matters, and other value add services to clients
- Provide professional and timely communication with clients
- Identify value add opportunities for the Firm to provide additional support to clients
- Actively participate in client meetings and influence the client to act on recommendations

With the team:

- Support Manager to ensure workflow and capacity are managed smoothly within budget and timeframes, and monthly productivity and recoverability targets are met
- Work collaboratively with onshore and offshore team members to ensure the high quality and timely delivery of work
- Assist new team members as a “buddy” to support their onboarding, team affiliation, progress and skills development
- Provide review, feedback, support, on-the-job training and mentoring for onshore and offshore team members to nurture and encourage their development and learning
- Assist the manager to foster and support the development of a client-focused mindset within the team

With the firm:

- Support the Firm’s financial management, including: Meeting individual budgets, timeframes,



productivity and recoverability targets; Completing accurate daily timesheets and preparing weekly billings; Assisting with the detailed monthly review of WIP, write offs and debtors
- Ongoing development of own technical, software and professional skills through active participation in training, learning & development activities, and team meetings
- Ongoing assistance with the review and improvement of the firm’s systems and procedures

Qualifications

- Degree qualified in Australia (Accounting, Business, Finance)
- CAANZ or CPA qualified/ underway
- 3+ years’ experience in Australian professional practice
- Above-average technical accounting expertise, including: Financial reporting & analysis (including general purpose financial reports); Taxation; Budgeting & Forecasting; Cost management;
- Experience and/or skills with Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience using FYI Docs, Smart workpapers, Microsoft Copilot and other AI tools (preferred)
