Primary objective
Provide strategic business management, governance and corporate support across Regional and Remote Commands, ensuring effective financial management, workforce planning, compliance and business service delivery. Partner with Command executives to deliver trusted advice, drive continuous improvement and support operational policing outcomes through effective leadership of business management resources.
Context statement The position is part of the Finance,
Procurement and Facilities Division and is based in Alice Springs. Working across Regional and Remote
Commands, the role provides strategic advice and oversight on financial, workforce, governance, procurement and business management matters within a complex frontline service workplace. The position directly supervises an Administrative Officer 6 (AO6) Business Manager and works closely with Command executives and key corporate service providers.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide strategic financial and business advice to Command executives on financial management, budget performance, workforce planning,
governance, procurement and business operations.
1. Lead and oversee business and financial management services across Regional and Remote Commands to support operational and strategic
outcomes.
1. Monitor financial performance, reporting, compliance and risk management activities, providing high-level analysis, advice and
recommendations to support decision making.
1. Lead continuous improvement initiatives and projects that strengthen business systems, processes and service delivery.
2. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.
3. Lead and develop staff, fostering a collaborative, accountable and customer-focused culture.
Selection criteria
Essential
1.
Demonstrated experience providing high-level business, financial or corporate management advice in a complex organisation, with the ability
to support strategic and operational decision making.
1. Demonstrated financial and budget management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, expenditure monitoring, financial reporting,
resource allocation, financial risk management and providing sound financial advice.
1. Proven leadership and people management skills, including the ability to influence, mentor and develop staff and build productive working
relationships with diverse stakeholders.
1. Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver practical
outcomes.
1. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, briefings and correspondence, and present
advice on complex issues to senior and executive stakeholders.
1. Demonstrated experience across corporate functions including governance, risk management, procurement and/or corporate services, with
the ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, accounting, management or a related discipline.
2. Experience working in government, emergency services, policing or another complex operational environment
